Deafverse: Legends of the Eldertree Combines High Fantasy and College Readiness in a Groundbreaking Educational Adventure for Deaf Teens

Austin, TX – May 20th, 2025 – The National Deaf Center on Postsecondary Outcomes (NDC – nationaldeafcenter.org) proudly presents Legends of the Eldertree, the latest installment of Deafverse — the world’s first ASL-accessible online educational game designed specifically for deaf youth. Used by thousands of players across the country, this immersive adventure blends captivating gameplay with essential college readiness skills, helping deaf youth confidently navigate their self-determination.

Building College Readiness Through Gameplay

Throughout this immersive quest, players explore real-life college scenarios such as navigating the college application process, evaluating financial aid, accessing campus resources, building community, and requesting accommodations. After completing Legends of the Eldertree, players will be able to:

  • Navigate the college application process, financing options, and campus resources
  • Assess accommodation options for access on campus
  • Build college readiness skills to help transition successfully to postsecondary education

The game seamlessly merges adventure with practical learning, helping prepare deaf teens for the transition to college

 

Accessible, Free, and Web-Based

Legends of the Eldertree is fully web-based and free to play. Designed with accessibility in mind, it features American Sign Language (ASL), English captions, transcripts, and audio, ensuring an all-encompassing experience for all players.

 

For Educators & Organizations

Since launching Deafverse Classroom in November 2023, educators have embraced the platform as a valuable teaching tool—creating hundreds of virtual classrooms and student accounts to support learning. Overall, more than 18,000 accounts have been created on Deafverse since its launch in 2019. Teachers, transition specialists, and VR counselors are using Deafverse to help students build self-advocacy and decision-making skills.

Educators can incorporate Legends of the Eldertree into their curriculum using free teaching resources available at deafverse.com/resources-teachers, providing guidance on integrating the game into learning environments.
